The Moon Area girls lacrosse team suffered its first loss of the season Thursday night, falling to Upper St. Clair by a final score of 14-7. The Tigers now stand at 5-1 on the season.
Upper St. Clair jumped out to a fast start, scoring five goals in the first quarter while holding Moon scoreless. The Tigers found their rhythm in the second quarter, netting two goals, but trailed 8-2 at halftime. Moon came out strong after the break, scoring four goals in the third quarter to close the gap, but USC pulled away in the fourth with five more goals to secure the win.
Goalkeeper Shiri Kudratullaev anchored the defense with 12 saves. On offense, Reese Keslar and Marleigh Therrien led the Tigers with two goals apiece. Gianna DeLuca, Avery Machusko, and Kamryn White each added a goal in the effort.
Moon returns home on Sunday, April 7th, for a key section matchup against Fox Chapel. JV is scheduled for 6:00 PM, with Varsity to follow at 7:30 PM.
