The Moon Area girls lacrosse team put together a dominant performance on Friday evening, cruising to a 17-2 victory over Greater Latrobe in non-section play.

The Tigers started strong and never looked back, scoring three goals in each of the first two quarters to build a 6-1 halftime lead. After the break, Moon found another gear, exploding for seven goals in the third quarter and adding four more in the final frame to cap the rout.

Attacker Avery Machusko led the way for Moon, netting a game-high five goals. Midfielder Gianna DeLuca added a hat trick, while Reese Keslar, Scarlet Eubanks, and Vita Hazen each chipped in with two goals apiece to round out the multi-goal scorers.

Defensively, Moon was equally impressive, limiting Greater Latrobe to just one goal in each half and forcing numerous turnovers that fueled the Tigers’ transition offense.

Moon’s balanced attack and stifling defense overwhelmed Latrobe from start to finish, setting the tone for what the Tigers hope will be a strong second half of the season.
