The Moon Area High School girls lacrosse team saw its three-game winning streak come to an end Saturday afternoon, falling to Canon-McMillan, 10-8, in a tightly contested non-section matchup.
Despite a spirited second-half rally, the Lady Tigers couldn't overcome a balanced attack from the Big Macs, who scored five goals in each half to secure the win. Moon, now 8-2 on the season, showed resilience, outscoring Canon-McMillan 5-5 after halftime but falling just short.
Moon opened the game with a quick strike, netting the game's first goal in the opening quarter. However, Canon-McMillan answered with one of their own before taking control in the second quarter, outscoring Moon 4-2 to carry a 5-3 lead into halftime.
The third quarter saw Moon gain momentum behind standout Reese Keslar, who scored twice in the frame. The Lady Tigers posted three goals in the quarter to Canon-McMillan’s three, keeping the contest within striking distance. In the final period, Moon added two more goals, but the Big Macs matched them to maintain their two-goal cushion to the final whistle.
Keslar led the Moon offense with four goals, continuing her strong campaign. Avery Machusko chipped in two goals, while Scarlet Eubanks and Kamryn White each added one.
The Lady Tigers will look to bounce back in their next matchup as they continue their push toward postseason play.
