Girls rugby opens section play with a win over Hollidaysburg

HOLLIDAYSBURG AREA SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL: 0
Moon Area Girls Rugby started the season with a trip to Hollidaysburg HS. Braving the ever increasing wind speeds and the darkening skies, Moon Area started off to a fast start.
Almost immediately after kickoff, a nice run by Ava Steed puts the ball within striking distance and quick hands from Ellie Nurss to Hannah Wasnieski sees Melissa Staaf hit a gap to score. Nurss converts and we're quickly up 7-0.
Moon Area got its second score after Sam Orlando steals possession and gets the ball to Maria Depner and then Steed. Quick attacking near the Hollidaysburg line sees Reagan LaFayette hit Nurss with a pass and Nurss dives over. Nurss then makes her own kick.
Our last score came from great teamwork and pressure that sees a Moon Area quick tap by Nurss who scored her second try and she makes her own kick.
The varsity game was ended at 20 minutes with an official score of 25-0.
