On a cool Sunday afternoon, the Moon Tigers took on a familiar foe, the Central Catholic Vikings. In a battle of playoff teams from last season, the Tigers came out firing on cylinders. They were scoring quick and often. After an offense show in the first half, the Tigers were up 34-0. After the break, the Tiger’s offense kept rolling. Scoring within the first few minutes to bring the mercy rule into effect. Shortly after, the Tigers brought in the reserves to see what they had to offer. They did not disappoint. Keeping the energy and intensity high, the Tigers were able to score quick and often again. With the final horn sounded the final was Moon Tigers 88 Central Catholic Vikings 0. Freshman Matthew Smarsh was selected by his teammates as this week’s players player. The young fullback had an absolutely dominate day. Making multiple defenders misses every time he touched the ball and going for big run after big run. He also dotted down the first try of what looks to be a promising young career. The Tigers host Indiana County this Sunday, 3/30, at 1 pm. Indiana, which has been a powerhouse in the division for the last half a decade, comes in with a chip on their shoulder after losing a tight game last year to the Tigers by a score of 34-27. Moon looks to retain their winning ways with another big test in front of them.
